There was a good turnout for the Saturday breakfast that was sponsored by the Highland Lakes pickleball group. There was also a good turnout in pickleball players to work the breakfast. The pickleball players that were present to help out were Bill, Cathy, Mike, Beverly, Dean, John, Bebina, Nancy, Dorothy, Irene, Maureen, Renee, Janet, Susan, Marvin, Ken and Lynn. And Manny was scrambling the eggs. They were the best! John and Dean were the pot washers and they did an excellent job with no complaints. Please let me know if I left anyone out.
I took a few photos and they are below.

Pickleball Monday Night Sept. 27, 2010
This was our last Monday night for intercommunity pickleball playing. There happened to be a bad thunderstorm that caused some of the Hawthorne players to come over and also the crew from Water Oak came down. We had some really competitive games going on. We only had 3 courts for pickleball as the photographers were back to take photos of the HL residents for the new book coming out next year. That took up our 4th court but it didn't stop the enthusiasm though. No one seemed to mind sitting out on the bench a little longer between games. Actually we all had a nice social time too that way. The intercommunity playing will end after the Thursday morning session. We sure have enjoyed it and the players from the other communities have really helped us out. The other communities that have participated are Legacy, Hawthorne, Water Oak, Pembroke, and Arlington Ridge. We look forward to next summer when we can all get together again. Lynn

Monday night Inter-Community play September 20, 2010
We were very glad to have Rich and Donna Donald join us here at Highland Lakes for some fun Pickleball games. They are currently staying at the Villages until the end of September. Rich and Donna are Ambassadors to the USAPA. Water Oaks and Legacy joined us as part of our Inter-Community play. Four courts were going at full speed tonight. Thanks to all who participated in our Inter-Community play. It's always a pleasure to have you join us in some fun games. Marvin & Susan McGinnis grandson Drew is here and ready to play Pickleball. He was on the courts tonight and mingled in with all the other Pickleball players. We are glad to have you back Drew and hope your able to come and play some Pickleball games with us. Pictures are posted on the blog of Drew McGinnis. He just turned 10 years old and has been playing Pickleball for 2 1/2 years. He plays about twice a year when he comes to visit his grandparents here at Highland Lakes.

Pickleball to host Saturday Breakfast on October 9, 2010
Pickleball will be hosting the Saturday Breakfast on October 9, 2010.
As you know the money we receive from this breakfast is used to have a Pizza party towards the end of the year.
In the past, we have had a great response from our Pickleball players to help serve at the Saturday Breakfast.
This year I am asking again for our Pickleball players who are here to help with this Saturday morning breakfast. Buy your tickets early and encourage your friends to come to the breakfast so that we have a good turnout. All those who can help should report to the Arena between 7:00-7:15 am on October 9th. Please wear your Pickleball shirt and show all residents who come what a great Pickleball group we have.
We will send out another reminder as the date gets closer.
Thank You,
M&M

This morning we had a total of 12 players. Two courts were going constantly and sometimes three were in action. Our newest Pickleball player is Kathy Carter. Welcome Kathy to our Pickleball group. I think Bob Cuenin used some Miracle Grow on his head because this morning he actually had hair! What a surprise that was.

Monday night Pickleball at Highland Lakes
It was a great night for Pickleball. We had 4 players from Water Oaks, 2 players from Legacy and 12 players from Highland Lakes. We also had Anita Pasiak's daughter (Lynn) join us in some Pickleball games. As you can see our Inter-Community Play is still going strong but unfortunately will end on September 30, 2010. It has been a great summer for Inter-Community play and we hate to see it end but our Snow Birds are starting to trickle in and by the end of September we will have quite a few back. We have met some wonderful people from 5 different Communities and it's because of them that our Pickleball games throughout the summer have been so much fun and very challenging.

Inter-Community play is in full force at Highland Lakes
We would all like to welcome Renee back to Pickleball after a long absence. We also would like for her to know that we are so sorry for the loss of her husband, Rick.
Here we are into the month of August and our Inter-Community play couldn't be any better. We have Pickleball players from several different communities coming to play Pickleball in our indoor facility. The communities are as far out as Water Oaks and Pennbrooke. Our other surrounding communities are Legacy, Hawthorne and Arlington Ridge. We have had many good players from all of these communities and this helps to make our Pickleball game much more challenging. We Thank everyone for their participation in the Inter-Community play. All of our players at Highland Lakes have been invited to play at Water Oaks, Legacy and Hawthorne. Many of our players have taken part at playing at these different communities and have found it to be lots of fun. Water Oaks plays at 7:30 pm under the lights. Legacy plays on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm and Hawthorne plays on Thursday nights at 6:00 pm. Anyone interested in going to play at any of these communities could contact Marie or Lynn for more information.
