Another super day for outdoor Pickleball.

We played some great Pickleball games on the outdoor Pickleball courts today. We are using courts 5 and 6. It's a little different than playing indoors but it's better than no Pickleball at all. Ken & Lynn are showing us how to chalk the second court.  It works pretty well.  I think were kind of liking this new setup.  Come on down and have some fun.

Outdoor Pickleball play.

It was a great morning for Outdoor Pickleball. This is the first time we have played as a group on the outdoor Pickleball courts. We had two nets going and everyone was having fun. We will be playing again on the outdoor courts on Thursday and Friday morning at 9:00 am.  Come out and join us.

A record number of players to play Pickleball in one day.

Friday morning we had 30 players come out to play the game of Pickleball. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout! We had four courts going all morning. To be able to get everyone to rotate in, the scoring was brought down to 9 points as opposed to 11 points. This worked out very well and everyone was able to rotate and play many games. We also had a guest (Mary Heffner) join us to play Pickleball, she is from Michigan and traveling in Florida. She heard about our Community and wanted to stop in to play Pickleball. She was very much impressed with our Community. Gerry & Marilyn Crowell brought their guest (Hank & Judy Turco) to play Pickleball for the very first time and they fell in love with the game.


We will be playing Pickleball in the Arena Monday night at 6:30 pm.

We were so glad to be playing Pickleball today.

Everyone must know by now that new lighting is being installed in the arena. Due to this the Pickleball players have not been able to play Pickleball in the arena for a couple of weeks now. Today was the first day that we had a chance to play and the Pickleball players came out in full force. There were lots of good games being played and everyone was having fun. Joining us today was Ken & Lynn Corbett from Greenville SC. Playing was Janet Neff, she was a guest of Gerry and Marilyn Crowell. We would like to welcome Pauline Duschesne, she is our newest Pickleball player.
We will be playing Pickleball tomorrow morning and also on Monday night.

New lighting being installed in the Arena.

We have new lighting being installed in the Arena therefore our Pickleball playing time has been curtailed for the past two weeks.  Pauline has informed us that we can play Pickleball on Thursday and Friday of this week because the workers will not be working on the lights due to all the scheduled activities already planned for this week.  We will also be playing Pickleball on Monday night (January 25th). 

The workers will resume their work in the arena next week so the Arena will be closed for Pickleball play until further notice.  Check your email for further information.

Santa makes a splash at the Pickleball Pizza Party

Monday night, Pickleball held their annual Pizza Party. We had a great crowd, lots of Pizza and loads of fun. Our surprise guest was "Santa" of course. Santa made a big splash with all the ladies, as you can see by the pictures, every lady had to have their picture taken with Santa. There were a few exceptions but we won't talk about that. We Thank everyone who brought wonderful desserts to share with there friends.

Arlington Ridge enjoyed playing Pickleball in our Arena.

We had a great group of Pickleball players out there tonight.  There were four courts going again, that seems to be the norm lately on Monday nights.  We hosted a great group of Pickleball players from Arlington Ridge, this was their first time playing Pickleball at Highland Lakes.  There were some serious competition games going as well and everyone had a good time.  Below is a picture of the group of players from Arlington Ridge.  The players standing were the players that were able to play, the players sitting were on the injury list.

Highland Lakes Pickleball - Friday, November 27, 2009

We had a super turnout on Friday morning for Pickleball and all the players were from Highland Lakes. There was a total of 23 players. I think everyone wanted to get some exercise after eating all that Turkey on Thanksgiving. We had two young guest join us at Pickleball, Drew & Molly McGinnis, Grandchildren of Sue & Marvin McGinnis. Donzetta Miller was back playing after a long absence. Ron Eversole was back and was looking to play some good Pickleball games.


Monday night, the 23rd of November we had a full house for our Inter-Community Play. We had 28 players that night. Everyone had a great time mingling and playing Pickleball. Mario Palmenteri was a first time guest from Water Oaks and there were lots of players from Legacy.

Tates Creek Christian Church Lexington, Kentucky

This is a story of Ron Eversole who learned how to play Pickleball  here at Highland Lakes when he was visiting his sister & brother-in-law Jan & Joe Groft.  He now owns a Villa on Cash Court and will be playing Pickleball here at Highland Lakes as often as he possibly can. I asked Ron to write up an article on how he has started Pickleball in Lexington, Kentucky. I have added some pictures so you can all see how beatiful his new Gym is. Thanks Ron for sharing your story.

I was introduced to pickleball during a visit to Highland Lakes in


January of this year. I was hooked immediately!


We just happened to be constructing a 23,000 square foot addition to


our church building - that included a Multi-Ministry Center (gym). I


decided to introduce pickleball in Lexington. None of our guys had


ever heard of the game, but were interested in giving it a try.


Several of them were hooked just like I was. We now have three courts


and play one or two nights a week. We even have some retired men who


want to begin playing during the day.

We don't quite have the well-oiled operation that you have at Highland


Lakes, but we are making progress and look forward to enjoying the

game in the coming weeks and months.

Thursday Morning Pickleball

What a great turnout we had this morning to play Pickleball. We had three nets going and lots of players waiting their turn to play. Lots of good games and lots of fun. Thanks to Harry Yorgensen, we now have a new system to record the players handicaps. This will come in handy when it's time for our Senior Olympics in March.  Don't forget to mark your score!


I received a call from Mario Palmenteri from Water Oaks, he will be joining us to play Pickleball on Monday night. I also received a call from Louis Bracci from Arlington Ridge wanting to know if they could come and play with our group on a Monday night. He will ask his players tomorrow when they would like to come to Highland Lakes to play Pickleball.
