Welcome back John and Bebina Zeis to our community.

It's official now, Bebina is back to stay. We welcome her and John with open arms and I'm sure we'll be seeing Bebina playing Pickleball more often now.
This morning Ed Donovan came in to try his hand at playing Pickleball.  It was his first time ever playing the game and he did very well.  We want to welcome Ed Donovan to our Pickleball group.
Today, we had 3 nets going full force and everyone played some good hard games and even though some of us lost, we still came off the court laughing and having lots of fun.

Bebina is back!
Ed is showing us that he can play this game.
Look at that serve.
OK Ed, you past the test.  You're in!

Inter-Community play has started here at Highland Lakes on May 18, 2010

Hawthorne, Highland Lakes and Pennbrooke participated in our first day of Inter-Community play for the summer of 2010.  We had four players from Hawthorne and seven players from Pennbrooke join us in some good Pickleball games.  We welcomed both communities and hope they will join us again throughout the summer.

On our Low Impact Court we had a new player who wanted to learn how to play the Pickleball.  His name is Jim and he is a new resident to Highland Lakes.  Welcome Jim!

The pictures tell the whole story, everyone was having fun and that is what Pickleball is all about.

Inter-Community play is starting at 5 different Communities.

Highland Lakes as well as all other Communities have many snowbirds going North for the summer months.  This is the reason we have incorporated Inter-Community Pickleball play with other Communities in our area.  We have 5 Communities interested in joining Highland Lakes for Inter-Community Pickleball play during the summer months.  Hawthorne, Pennbrooke, Legacy, Arlington Ridge and Water Oaks.  Highland Lakes has invited these Communities to join us to play Pickleball on our regular scheduled days.  Pickleball Players from Pennbrooke and Hawthorne will be joining us on Tuesday morning May 18th.  Monday night May 24th Arlington Ridge will be joining us for some fun games.  We are still waiting to hear when Legacy will be joining us.  I will keep you informed as soon as everything is finalized for the Inter-Community play.
Today, we had 3 nets going on a Sunday afternoon with a total of 12 to 14 people playing.  There were great games played with lots of fun and laughter.

Even though we're loosing folks to the snowbird factor it was still a good day for pickleball.  We had 4 courts going today with players sitting out.  Don G. came by to say good bye as he will be leaving tomorrow.  His right hand was swollen from a wasp sting so he was unable to play a last game with us.  We will definitely miss him this summer.

Richard waiting for the serve

Bill coming back with a tricky dink shot

Looks like Richard is going for a smash!

Even though we're loosing players that are heading north for the summer we are still getting about 3 courts worth.  We had some good games today and a fun time.
Saw Manny last night and it looks like he is making a good recovery and will be back on the court with us in a couple of months.
Joel was in fine form last night on the court after his long absence caused by health problems.  It's good to see him and Dyan back.

Court 4 "Reserved for Low Impact Play".

The "Competitive"/"Most Competitive" court assignments that we recently tried did not work so the committee has come up with another idea that went into effect tonight. We have reserved court 4 for people who want to play a non aggressive type of play.  As you can see by the pictures this court was being used by several of our players this evening.

We would like to welcome Joel & Dyan Zimmerman after a long absence due to illness.  Glad to have you back!

We also would like to welcome (Cliff & Roseleen Still), two new players who joined us tonight to learn how to play Pickleball.  Welcome to our Pickleball Group!

Tuesday Morning Pickleball

Manny went in the hospital on Tuesday for a hip replacement. We are all hoping that the surgery went well and that he will be back on the courts playing with us again soon.... pain free!!
We had a good pickleball session yesterday morning (Tuesday).  3 courts again.  Sorry but I was too busy to take any photos.  Lynn

Sunday Pickleball

This posting is late but we had a good group for pickleball on Sunday afternoon.  It was kind of rainy outside but some of us got together for some good games.  We had 3 courts going.  I tried to get a few shots of Marie as she is always the one taking the pictures and never gets in them.

Thursday Morning Pickleball

This morning, we had three of our newest players trying to improve their Pickleball game and Don Gullakson was right there to give them the proper instructions.  We had 20 players and four nets set up to accommodate these players.  The last net was being used for instructional play.
