Tates Creek Christian Church Lexington, Kentucky

This is a story of Ron Eversole who learned how to play Pickleball  here at Highland Lakes when he was visiting his sister & brother-in-law Jan & Joe Groft.  He now owns a Villa on Cash Court and will be playing Pickleball here at Highland Lakes as often as he possibly can. I asked Ron to write up an article on how he has started Pickleball in Lexington, Kentucky. I have added some pictures so you can all see how beatiful his new Gym is. Thanks Ron for sharing your story.

I was introduced to pickleball during a visit to Highland Lakes in

January of this year. I was hooked immediately!

We just happened to be constructing a 23,000 square foot addition to

our church building - that included a Multi-Ministry Center (gym). I

decided to introduce pickleball in Lexington. None of our guys had

ever heard of the game, but were interested in giving it a try.

Several of them were hooked just like I was. We now have three courts

and play one or two nights a week. We even have some retired men who

want to begin playing during the day.

We don't quite have the well-oiled operation that you have at Highland

Lakes, but we are making progress and look forward to enjoying the

game in the coming weeks and months.

Thursday Morning Pickleball

What a great turnout we had this morning to play Pickleball. We had three nets going and lots of players waiting their turn to play. Lots of good games and lots of fun. Thanks to Harry Yorgensen, we now have a new system to record the players handicaps. This will come in handy when it's time for our Senior Olympics in March.  Don't forget to mark your score!

I received a call from Mario Palmenteri from Water Oaks, he will be joining us to play Pickleball on Monday night. I also received a call from Louis Bracci from Arlington Ridge wanting to know if they could come and play with our group on a Monday night. He will ask his players tomorrow when they would like to come to Highland Lakes to play Pickleball.

We had Diane Moore from Water Oaks join us for some Pickleball fun.  We enjoyed having her, she is a very good player. Legacy folks continuing to trickle in for some good games. Nice to see Karen Orman back after a long summer. Welcome Back, Karen!  It was so nice to see Bob Fegers back on the courts, helmet and all and still shows us up.  Welcome back to Ed Buonopane! This was his first time back after his heart surgery. Cindi is now back from visiting with her Mother. It was a wonderful evening of games and socializing with friends.

Friday Morning Pickleball

It must be Friday because we had a great turnout for Pickleball this morning. It's probably because we start an hour later and everybody gets to sleep in on Fridays. There were three nets going and many players waiting their turn. There were many good games being played and we were glad to see all our players having fun. It was nice to see Bob Cuenin back from Costa Rica.

Friday Morning Pickleball

The morning started off with a bang, many great games were being played, one in particular where Sue and Marie were playing against Harry and Manny. The girls beat the guys!! It was too much for the men to handle as you can see in the picture below. Don Haro stopped by for a visit and chit chat with the players. The guy in the beach outfit (Pierre) came strolling into the Arena and thought he was actually going to play Pickleball in this gettup. Lots of fun and lots of laughs for everyone.

A Get Well message for Ann Parker and Donzetta Miller. Ann had surgery on her foot and we all wish her a speedy recovery. Donzetta was in the hospital with a staph infection and is recovering well. Your Pickleball friends are thinking of you both and wish you the best.

Pickleball PLayer has many talents.

Talent of Our PickleBall Players:
We know that Harry Yorgensen has made many things to help us out at PickleBall, but you should see his latest achievement. When you’re in the hallway of the Clubhouse, take a look at the Golf League Hole in One plaque. Harry made this as a service to the Golf Group. This professionally looking plaque would have cost the golf league a lot of money, but Harry made this one and he outdid himself with the professional quality of the job.
