Thursday Morning Pickleball

We had a small group of Pickleball players today with two nets going but we had some very good games. It's always more fun and enjoyable when we have all our Pickleball players but small group or large group the results are always the same. Fun, Fun, Fun! Come on out and have some fun.

Email from Jan Groft.

There's been a lot of rumors why Jan Groft has her foot in a cast.  Jan sent me this email describing what happened to her so I thought I would share it with all of you.

Marie:

Just so the pickle ball players will know, I did not fall on the court or break my foot. I have been diagnosed with tendonitis - inflammation of the nerve that surrounds the posterior tibial tendon. My foot is in a cast for a month to rest the area and to allow the swelling to subside, which seems to be successful at this point.
Can't wait to get the cast off on October 20th to see what progress has been made.

Monday night Pickleball on September 14, 2009

We had a full house on Monday night for Inter-Community play, four nets were being used and many players were waiting for their turn to play. We were glad to see Dean & Beverly back playing Pickleball. Ken and Lynn were showing us how they play Pickleball in Greensville, NC. Sue and Marvin were really on top of their game tonight. Jerry dropped by (as he always does) to chat with the players. We wish you well, Jerry! We also had a new member of our community join us at Pickleball. Her name is Renee, she did very well and had fun playing the game. Welcome to our Pickleball group.

Rich and Donna Donald (USAPA Ambassadors from New Tampa, Fl) joined our group for Pickleball this morning. It was so nice to see them again. This was the first time Rich & Donna met Ken & Lynn. They have correspnded through email for quite some time but had never really met each other. It was nice to have them both meet here at Highland Lakes.

There were some good games going this morning with three courts in full swing. Pickleball is a sport we have fun playing, plus it gives us the exercise we need and it's a great place to meet all your friends.

Monday night fun with beginners and advanced players.

We had one of our regular players return from up North (Dean Melvin). Welcome Back, Dean!

Monday night was a blast! We had players from everywhere. We had 14 players from Highland Lakes, 7 players from Legacy and two guest from Greenville, SC (Ken & Lynn Corbett). Ken and Lynn learned how to play Pickleball right here at Highland Lakes when they came visiting Lynn's Mother. They have since started their own Pickleball group in Greensville NC. We look forward to seeing them when they visit and have them join us to play Pickleball with our group.

Welcome Back Don & Don!

Welcome back Don Gullakson (COACH) and Don Lewis. We had lots of good games going this morning with 13 players from Highland Lakes and 4 players from Legacy. No one was ready to give up the nets at 11:30. I think they could've played for a couple more hours and still want more. What a wonderful sport this Pickleball game is for all of us.

Marion Portland

We just learnt that Marion Portland, loving wife of Al Portland, passed away. We all extend our deepest sympathy to Al for his loss. This thought comes from the entire Pickleball group both past and present.

Reflections from our past.

Thought you might like to see some of the archives we have of people who have played Pickleball. These people helped start Pickleball at Highland Lakes and deserve their place on our blog. I am featuring just a few of these pictures but there are many more who deserve to have their picture here.

The first collage is of Jan Groft, she is our newest beginner and is doing very well. Bob Fegers stopped by to chat and root everyone on.
