Welcome Back Don & Don!

Welcome back Don Gullakson (COACH) and Don Lewis. We had lots of good games going this morning with 13 players from Highland Lakes and 4 players from Legacy. No one was ready to give up the nets at 11:30. I think they could've played for a couple more hours and still want more. What a wonderful sport this Pickleball game is for all of us.

Marion Portland

We just learnt that Marion Portland, loving wife of Al Portland, passed away. We all extend our deepest sympathy to Al for his loss. This thought comes from the entire Pickleball group both past and present.

Reflections from our past.

Thought you might like to see some of the archives we have of people who have played Pickleball. These people helped start Pickleball at Highland Lakes and deserve their place on our blog. I am featuring just a few of these pictures but there are many more who deserve to have their picture here.

Thursday Morning Pickleball

We are all praying for Ed Buonopane who had open heart surgery yesterday. We all wish him a quick recovery. This morning we had some good games going. There were 6 players fron Highland Lakes and 5 players from Legacy. Thanks to those Legacy players, they have been keeping our courts alive with some great pickleball this summer.

Inter-Community Play at Highland Lakes 8-17-09

We had a good turnout for our Inter-Community Play at Highland Lakes tonight. There were 8 players from Legacy and 8 Players from Highland, three nets were set up for tonights play. The first collage is of Jan Groft, she is our newest beginner and is doing very well. Bob Fegers stopped by to chat and root everyone on. Eileen Mitchell has been coming in on Monday nights to practice her game. She is trying to build up her knee so she can come back to play shortly. We are all looking forward to her return.

Highland Lakes Pickleball 8-14-09

Manny & I were a few minutes late getting to the arena this morning. When we arrived Sue & Nancy from Legacy were setting up the Pickleball courts for us. What a wonderful surprise, Thanks girls! There were three nets set up and all were being used with an overflow of players waiting to play. It was nice to see Sheila Dumas return after a long absence. As you view the pictures you'll be able to see that everyone was having a good time playing Pickleball.

Nancy & Sue of Legacy destroyed Manny & Harry!

Harry was back from his vacation this morning and we were glad to see him back. Welcome Back, Harry! There were some good games going this morning. We had 9 players with two nets set up so you can see that we didn't sit around much. There were two exceptional games played by Nancy & Sue against Manny & Harry. Well the girls won the first game so they had a rematch and the girls won the second game also. Good playing girls!

Tuesday Morning Fun

This morning was fun for everyone, we had two nets going and for a Tuesday morning that was great. We had three players from Legacy; Harry, Penney & Frank. Dyan Zimmerman has done very well with her game and is improving everyday. Look at her form! Richard Ekstrand is proving to be quite a player, he outdid himself this morning and won the last 4 points to win the game. We can't rule out Janet Panchyrz, she has a powerful serve and a return that can knock you off your feet. Cindy is still hanging in there with her sore feet, she does very well at lobbying that ball just over the net. All in all we have a great group of Pickleball players and we always have lots of fun.

Monday night is always a fun night.

A great night for Pickleball. Visiting were Bob & Ruth Forger's grandsons, Cameron & Bryce. They came out to learn the game and boys being boys their limber bodies were all over the court. They played very well and of course they used some of Bob's short shots over the net. I think it's in the genes. We had a great time playing with them. We also had a new player this evening her name is Jan Groft. She found out that she loves the game and will be back for more instructions. She did very well for her first time playing. Visiting Joel & Dyan were Andy (Dyan's Son) & Christy (Daughter-in-law) with the grandchildren Brooke & Logan. Andy has graduated from a Beginner to Intermediate player, he was playing with the big guys tonight. Our Inter-Community play was in full force and from what I could see everyone was having a great time playing Pickleball.
